Fraudsters are at it again. This time, scammers are after your bank details with which they could fraudulently access and withdraw your money. Also with this ploy, a single account detail revealed would also expose all your bank accounts in all Nigerian banks as well as other internationally-domiciled accounts with the connectivity provided by the Bank Verification Number BVN. Have you ever received this kind of text message?

fraud alert
Scammer Phone number:  +2348109085886

Dear Customer,
Due to our BVN system upgrade,
your ATM Card has just been de-activated.
To reactivate, kindly call CBN
customer care (0092348109085886)

All that the fraudsters need is your basic account details which include account name, few bio-data and your BVN number and the deed is done.
Staying safe and secure is beginning to get tougher as fraudsters evolve with ever near-original scams. They seem to perfect more with each new scam innovation. Therefore you need to be smart enough to stay above board.

It has been said that on no condition would you give away any of your personal bank details to anyone under any platform or guise. Always ensure that you deal directly with your financial institution using their recommended platform – across counter (in-house transaction) or approved mobile or e-transact software.

Many have lost huge sums of money from the breach of their financial security through dealing with scammers as this. Fortunately, people too are becoming more conscious of their personal as well as public security. When you get any of such unsolicited text messages, please do not deal. Kindly ignore their call or if you have the means, report to any security agency for immediate tracking of such fraudulent phone number and other appropriate actions.
