The war against insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria may
appear to be increasingly won by the Nigerian Armed Forces and security
agencies but with each new day unfolding, the insurgent Boko Haram has resorted
to smarter means of infiltrating the society to unleash mayhem.
This time, the terror group have resorted to disguising
themselves in security and military uniforms to effectively carry out their
acts of terror unnoticed. These uniforms were supposed to enable them meander
into the society as genuine security agents and carrying out their deadly
assaults without any suspicion from the public.

This national security alert was issued by the Nigerian
Defence Headquarters in Abuja few days ago. With intelligence gathering from
the Nigerian military, the international joint military coalition as well as
other internal security dragnets, it has been confirmed that having been
dislodged from their hideout in the Sambisa Forests, the remaining frustrated
book haram terrorists now tries to infiltrate the society camouflaging as
security and military officers and men. They possess the complete uniforms and
ranks, they still have their Kalashnikovs and m-16 rifles, arms and
ammunitions.
The Public Security

The Nigerian public and indeed all her surrounding neighbors
have been warned to remain more security conscious and on alert too. Not all
uniformed men and women parading the streets might be genuine security agents.
The government calls on Nigerians to alert the security agencies on suspicion
of any security instrument whose identity could not be established. This is a
time to apply more caution in dealing with any uniformed man or woman whom you
could not easily identify as genuine.
However, I think the Nigerian government could do better to
establish a more verifiable means of identifying all her military formations,
units, patrol teams and even every officer and men. In this way, genuine
members of the Nigerian Armed Forces can be easily identified at a glance. This
is not a time to give room for mistakes, the time to start acting is now. If
