It was quite unbelievable to read about a 1000 page document submitted to the American White House by NASA, which reportedly explains what will happen to earth from November 15 to 29, 2015. According to Newswatch33, NASA has predicted that due to a rare solar movement involving the Jupiter, Venus and the Sun, the earth shall consequently be thrown into complete darkness. This blackout which shall last for 15 days will commence around 2:55 am on November 15 and end on 29 November.
Although I am not interested in the astronomical mechanisms as explained by NASA and reported by Newswatch33 but I am sure this event has much to be considered. Having occurred last over 1 million years ago, the earth's complete blackout for 15 days is undoubtedly a scary and potentially an unpredictable moment in the history of human existence.
My interest lies in the security implications of the unfolding event. Although no official Nigerian media has announced it, online news platforms and foreign media like the Newswatch33 has been on it. This predicted earth's global 15 days blackout event has also become a popular search query on Google as well as other search engines.
What are we to expect assuming NASA's prediction comes true?
Nigerians are unfortunately known to panic over occurrences of eclipses or other solar events - how much more a global darkness that shall last over 2 weeks. Most Nigerians would habitually think that the end of the world has come. Some would repent of their sins and prepare to meet their creator. It does not really matter what you decide to do so long as you stay safe and keep everyone around you also safe.

The explanation of the global darkness event explains that it is a natural occurrence which shall pose no danger to the life existing on earth. In 15 days, everything shall return to normal. There is no need to panic nor begin to think that the end has come.
