Tragedy struck yesterday in Sabin Gari, a metropolitan city in Kano state of Nigeria, when a newly married couple was set ablaze apparently by the wife in what appeared to be a homicidal action.
According to neighbors and eye witnesses, trouble started when the wife started abusing the husband of calling his ex-girlfriend on phone always and cheating on her. The wife allegedly grabbed the phone from the husband and threatened that "both of them would die and end it that day".
The unsuspecting husband waved it off and went in to sleep. To his amazement, he was woken up by the wife who began to pour petrol all over the entire flat.
She was said to have ignited the entire house. She died instantly from the burns while the husband, Mr Emeka, was rescued with some second degree burns.
According to reports, the man later died at the hospital.
A neighbor and eye witness who pleaded anonymity narrated how it all happened.
This is a clear case of failed marriage, arson and much more. Very sad indeed!
