You might be wandering what your interviewer or employer expects from you other than to score high at the aptitude tests and impress them at the physical interviews?

You are right...but the question is, how do you impress you interviewers to be considered for that job? Remember that other candidates for same job opening may be thinking about this too. However, what distinguishes you from others is your personality, which bears on your general outlook.

The way you speak, your gestures, smiles, question answering skills and approach, dressing, credentials and very importantly your understanding of that job you applied for are all what makes up your personality and hence your chances.

I've already dealt with Interview Success Secrets for that Job. This post shall however dwell on the need to research on that job position you applied for before you for the interviews.

BEFORE THE JOB INTERVIEW, GET HARD FACTS ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

One major thing your interviewer for that job expects you to have is an understanding for what the organisation stands for... The company's culture, philosophy, mission, vision, strategies etc. These aspects of your would be company if known, would enable you channel your efforts and knowledge towards what your interviewer wants to see in you and hear from you.

DRESSING FOR INTERVIEW? ACCORDING TO THEIR DRESS CULTURE

How to dress for job interviews

It is important that while going for that job interview, you dress in tune with the accepted dress culture of the organisation. However, resist the temptation to dress expensively or more gorgeous than even the Managing Director of the company. Simply dress smart and comfortably for that job interview.

For instance, an interview for a bank job would definitely require you to appear as corporately dressed as you could. Intelligently, an immaculate white long sleeve shirt, a black or dark blue trouser on a black belt and shoe could go on a black or dark blue patterned tie. Not necessarily a suite.

RELATE YOUR STRENGTHS TO HOW IT CAN SOLVE A PROBLEM IN THE ORGANISATION

The organisation needs you to solve their problems and in doing so, they would require a candidate who possesses those problem-solving abilities, skills or experience. I previously taught you How to write a winning CV, showcasing your skills, training and career objectives.  As expected, some interviewers may shoe more interest in your skills, abilities, motivating factors and experiences than in your education or academic qualities. Of course, hundreds or thousands of those candidates who came for that interviews have also got same or even higher academic qualifications than you do.

The edge you would have over them is to have those skills and experiences the job interview would consider as more requisite for the job position.

AT INTERVIEWS, NEVER LET YOUR PHONE RING, COME EARLY AND SAY THANK YOU AFTERWARDS

Remember that there's need to focus during interviews. Use the toilet before it gets to your turn. Switch off your phone or turn it silent before you walk into that interview room. Never forget to say "thank you" after the job interview. You can always send an Email, call or text SMS to your interviewer to thank them for the opportunity to be part of the interview. Also Promise to deliver your best when successfully engaged.

This works like magic. You may not have scored high in he job interview but by his appreciative gesture, you are most likely to be selected for he job.
