Just last week the president of the United States of America Donald Trump made a pronouncement recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Clashes, protests and major riots have remained reoccurring in most muslim countries and settlements such as Lebanon, Palestine etc, as a result.
Israelli Defense Forces IDF reported some firing of rockets into Israel by the Palestinian fighting Group and Authority Hamas. Israel of course responded by targeting Hamas in some airstrikes with about 4 persons reportedly dead from the airstrikes. As the world continues to react over this proclamation of Jerusalem as Israel's capital by Donald Trump, the head of the catholic church Pope Francis has officially called for the exercising of wisdom and prudence over this development.
Before the pope's announcement, global analysts have been speculating or anticipating a public statement from the Head of the church in Rome considering the religious, spiritual and political nature of this global event. The office of the pope aside being the head of the largest christian denomination in the world, is also recognized as the Head of State of the Vatican City comparable to the president of any country.
Therefore, the Pope wields not only spiritual and religious influence globally but also a strong and decisive political power like that of any president in the world. His call for more wisdom and prudence is unexpectedly the way forward at this time - owing to the delicate nature of the unfolding Jerusalem's pronouncement as Israel's capital.
