What turned out to be the news of the day on Thursday 17th September, was the discovery that some operators of computer business centers in the North Eastern part of Nigeria help the insurgent Boko Haram terrorists by producing fake national identity cards for them. In a collaborative effort by the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies to rid the nation of all forms of insecurity and insurgency, intelligence report gave rise to the arrest of the terror accomplices.
According to the spokesman of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army Col. Tukur Gasau, the arrest of the two business center operators were made possible following a confessional statement by an arrested Boko Haram suspect. The suspect who had a fake National Identity Card on him confessed that the two arrested operators actually prepared the fake ID cards and are in continuous business of doing so for their members. The arrested terrorist also confessed that apart from fake national ID cards, the business center operators also manufacture other types of documents which help the terrorists in their operation and movement.
You can agree with me that such acts of national sabotage from these business center operators has jeopardized the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces in their fight against insecurity, insurgency and terrorism. In this light, the Army spokesman gave a stern warning to all computer business center operators in the entire North East of Nigeria to desist from such acts, destroy the remnant of any such document within their custody or face the full wrath of the law.
However, items recovered from the arrested suspects who were named as Mr. Markinta Umar and John Zakariya, were computer laptops, still cameras, memory sticks and so on. The computer business center used by these two miscreants is located around the Post Office area in Maiduguri.
Speaking to newsmen while presenting the arrested Boko Haram accomplices to the press, the Army spokesman emphasized that efforts would continue to stamp out insecurity, insurgency and terror activities from the North East before the December 2015 deadline.
