As the Government of Nigeria and her people continue the onslaught against insurgency and other security challenges in the country, it has been clarified that every hand must be on deck to successfully achieve this goal of a safer and better-secure Nigeria. Personally, I think this should be a collective fight and in doing so, every Nigerian needs to say something when we see something. All the security and safety agencies of the Nigerian Government have got emergency hotlines that Nigerians could contact in times of distress or suspicion. Unfortunately, most Nigerians do not cooperate in this regard.

Let me sound it clearly that Nigeria has not grown  to the level where we have an impressive police to citizen ratio. As at year 2012 according to the Wikipedia Free Encyclopedia, the United States had a police/citizen ratio of 373 police officers per 100,000 citizens. Nigeria had 205 officers per 100,000 citizens. This means that for effective maintenance of peace and security of lives and property, Nigeria needs to build upon this ratio.

Until then, security agencies would only become aware of safety and security breaches if you and I alert notify them by calling their hotlines made available to us. In this post, I shall provide you with a comprehensive list of major security and safety hotlines for all national security and safety agencies of the Nigerian Government.
